Dianne Illingworth – One of the Wombles

Normally I am to be found collecting, sorting and delivering donations around the area. Also you will often see me at fundraising events or with a wheelbarrow around Malton re-stocking our annual pop-up shop.

Things are very different at the moment and very worrying for us all with Covid-19. I am so pleased I have been able to focus on something with the rescue whilst observing the lockdown guidelines.

So the last 10 weeks have had me trying to secure gift aid claims back to 2016 on donations made by all our supporters. This was to ensure we had money coming in to the rescue, but not asking you all for more money. Having said that, the donations and support we have received has been overwhelming.

I have been contacting many of you and asking you to complete a gift aid form relating to a donation you made in the past. Lots of forms have been returned, so my track and trace time has been very successful. Fingers crossed for the Government track and trace plans.

I have also been supplying and delivering to our “online shop” courtesy of Becca and our “stall on the wall” at Yedingham courtesy of Angela.

As we are now able to get out and about a little bit more, but still with social distancing and ensuring the utmost safety for everyone, we can collect donations from you. We are also trying to set up a network of drop off points in different areas so that we are not travelling all over, but can safely arrange pickups from designated points. Wendy might mention a bit more of that in her update?

Looking forward to seeing many of you in the coming months, but only when it is safe to do so.
